I blog to differ by jen geigley

If you saw SNL last week, Andy Samburg made a string of blog jokes during Ellen Page's monologue... and by the way, I love Ellen Page. She's so little. And her voice is so monotone. I have to admit that I still haven't seen Juno but need to soon. And I'm going to Netflix now to put Hard Candy on our list. I heard her character cuts someone's balls off?

DC and Craft Saturday! by jen geigley

As I promised, here are a couple of photos from my trip to Washington DC ... I had a kick ass time and met two of my scrappy heroes, Kristina and Shimelle. Kristina was SUCH a cool girl and I had a blast taking her classes and chatting a bit. She's so amazingly talented and I was drooling over her mini-books that she brought to class. And she's funny as hell. I also had a great time with my new partners in crime, Kelly and Maria. So many fun adventures ... the limo ride, drinking wine out of the bottle (and later, glasses), telling the driver 'oh, we won't be long' before heading into what looked like a miniscule scrap store and then disappearing for at least an hour, and closing down Applebees (and having drinks next to Kristina and her friends.)

Also, March 22nd is the next Craft Saturday at Vaudeville Mews downtown, and my friend Erin and I will have a booth there selling our goodies. Which you can check out here or here.

remember the bangs? by jen geigley

I've been debating whether/whether not to cut bangs for awhile now. Maybe since October, even. So I did it and I like them, except they itch my forehead a little. I needed a style change. Not like I used to in the 90s, though - when I'd dye strips of my hair with cherry kool-aid or whack off 10 inches or something crazy without a care in the world. (And yes, cherry kool-aid makes a GREAT dye if your hair is blond and absorbs color well. You just boil it in a small amount of water and don't add the sugar. After all, you're not going to drink the stuff. This was before Manic Panic became available... ahhh, yes, the 90s.)

So here they are, the BANGS...

I also started doing a photo a day on Flickr for the 365 Group which has been totally fun. I started in November and didn't know how well I'd do at keeping up with it, but the new year has kinda motivated me to keep going...

don't bite your friends by jen geigley

Today has just been whacked out. L got up late so I got up late, which resulted in a complete mash-up of our normal schedule. So I didn't shower or eat anything until now (and it's 2:20 pm), it's snowing and I have to go pick up more freelance stuff, and I know... wah... poor stay-at-home mom. But I'm just totally off today and it feels icky. Showering is one of the central necessities in my life and if I can't shower, watch out because it's serious. It's the one factor that would keep me from going on Survivor. I'd never be able to deal.

And we've become obsessed with a new-ish TV show. A kids' show. Yo Gabba Gabba (read more here or here). And if you know me, I'm very anti-kids' shows. Most of them. Anti-Dora, Anti-Diego, Sesame Street is okay because it's a classic, and don't get me started on Barney (which makes me gag as I type it.) But Yo Gabba Gabba is created by musicians/graphic designers/a guy from the Aquabats. Which is cool. And they feature songs like 'don't bite your friends.' Plus, guest stars like Tony Hawk and Biz Markie, The Shins, Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh and Shiny Toy Guns... wow. Now that's a show that's worth exposing my child to.

it's almost Christmas already! by jen geigley

So I decided I wouldn't post this until I was well into it, but I've decided to join Shimelle's class and make a journal about this Christmas. It's been fun so far. You make one page every day in December all the way through the 12th day of Christmas (in January.) I hope to make it all the way through (even though I'm a little behind as of today...) No fear, always time to catch up.

Here's how everything looks so far. (Whew, I know it's a lot at once...)
