farming Grandpa's land by jen geigley

My grandpa owned a farm on some land near Elmore, Minnesota - for years, he farmed there. The house is no longer standing, but there is a grove of trees that still mark the farm. My brother was lucky enough to be able to harvest those exact fields this year - pretty remarkable. Being the sentimental nerd that I am, I made Chris go out to the fields with me so I could take a photo. My grandpa would seriously have been so proud.

To cut or not to cut. Reese Witherspoon bangs, specifically. No, I don't expect to magically become Reese Witherspoon. She's absolutely gorgeous and we look nothing alike. I am just thinking about trying to copy her bangs. (I'm probably going to do it anyway, but I just wanted to see what other people would say.) Please vote!

So, I'm not sure I understand the obsession, but Lotus really is obsessed with this book:

I guess I'm just surprised that she even has a favorite book at this young age. But it's so much fun to read it to her. Over and over again. She must like the illustrations or something. She will say 'heh' as soon as you're done reading the words to let you know she's done with looking at the pictures and it's time to turn the page. It is very sweet. And I'll always remember that this was the first book she loved.

Lotus' first craft project (okay, so I helped a little but she technically did stick the pieces on)

Love these notepads/lists...

Martha's Halloween stamps (on sale)

It's cold enough to get out the Dwell blanket (our fave from last winter and I love the print)

and a nice Heidi Swapp idea book...

That should keep me busy for awhile. ;)

Lately I'm loving Yo Baby yogurt. Lotus loves it too, but I think it's just the name of the yogurt itself. It's just fun to say.

L finally grew out of her tiny newborn size 1 Chucks so we had to break out the size 2 black hi-tops. Pretty cool kicks, huh.

G Love and Special Sauce by jen geigley

We saw G Love for the fourth (maybe fifth) time at Simon Estes. Such a talented live performer - we can't get enough. And he's so charismatic and good-looking to boot. We got close enough to the stage that when the band took a break, we actually got to talk to them a tiny bit. The stage is right on the water, so they have to go down some steps to get off the stage right near the water, and when G came back up to play the encore, he said to us "damn, I almost fell into the river." (Swoon)

It was a great show as always, and we got some good photos.

my sweet dad by jen geigley

Lotus apparently left her teething ring bunny at my dad's house last weekend when we spent some time in my home town. So I got this package in the mail. This is how cute my dad is:

Dearest Lotus,

I found your pink bunny toy in your high chair at Grandpa's house. I know it is one of your favorite toys, and I wanted to return it to you at once! Grandma Karen and I just loved having you and your wonderful mom this past weekend.

You are just perfect! You are such a pretty baby! I think you are the greatest baby in the world! I sure miss you. Please come anytime you want, and we will play with your toys.

Love,
Grandpa Murray
